It's time they listen to us!!! We must stop this school to prison pipeline system and tell our City Leaders, No New Youth Jail!
This action is in response to the Hearing Examiner's decision to dismiss the appeal filed by dozens of community organizations, many representing communities of color impacted by criminalization and systematic racism of the City's granting of the Master Use Permit to the County to build the new youth jail. It is also time that we stop supporting these for profit projects such as this youth jail. It is time start supporting divest movements and following the lead of many indigenous communities fighting pipelines across Turtle Island.
We are saying No New Youth Jail and No Pipelines!!! Our indigenous and POC communities are saying enough is enough. It is time we put added pressure on Mayor Ed Murray and Dow Constantine to stop this jail project and support our POC communities.
Please join us for this peaceful direct action on March 21st. We will be meeting on the corner of 12th Ave and E Alder Street to march, rally and let our voices be heard.
We will have speakers from various organizations and individuals that are impacted by the construction of this jail project. Please come show your support and let our City know we don't need a new youth jail and stop supporting pipeline profits by allowing our city to invest in these projects that further pushes the racist cycle against Indigenous and POC communities.
Then at 7PM please join us at Washington Hall to support our Indigenous Community for the «Wake Up the World Tour». The Standing Rock Movement is nation wide now. Let's get out make change in our communities.
