How can artists, musicians, activists, and all people of the Seattle community use their creative voices to resist the current political and social climate we have found ourselves in? How can we simultaneously create work that reflects a spirit of resistance and protest while also using our tools to practically fight back?
“Creative Protest Live” is a space where participants can do just that. Direct engagement with human rights organizations and nonprofits will have a practical, hands on impact on the issues that have become increasingly more vulnerable in the past three months. Music and art created in this space will reflect the surrounding spirit of protest provided by the participants and organizations.
What: A space in which local creatives can partake in practical political actions paired with improvisatory art-making in the spirit of protest.
Who: YOU + local human rights groups presenting their needs and leading participants on how they can be directly involved in their efforts.
How: By showing up, bringing your creative tool of choice, whether it be your body, a musical instrument, your ideas, your voice.
Why: To create something bigger than ourselves with real-world results; to use our unique voices and strengths to support the resistance; and to inspire everyone, everywhere to do what they can in any capacity to contribute to our collective fight for justice. When we come together, there is no limit to the good we can achieve.
