Organized by Seattle musicians on a not-for-profit basis, Seaprog’s focus is on progressive music of the here and now rather than the florid “prog” stylings of yore. The 2017 festival will present more than a dozen remarkable bands whose diverse approaches illustrate just how far progressive rock has evolved since its origins in the 1960s. The festival's emphasis is on the resurgent Northwest prog scene, plus some of the top creative bands active in the more adventurous reaches of the genre today. This year’s artists include the legendary Wax Heads, critically hailed Bay Area ensemble Jack o’ the Clock, audiovisual explorers Zero Times Everything (NYC), multifaceted power trio Points North (SF), Human Ottoman (Portland), Ibex (Bellingham), and ear-bending Seattle bands Chemical Clock, Moon Letters, OMNI, Paraesthesia, Pinto Wagonfire, Fraktal Phantom, and The Machine That We Built, a unique instrumental take on the music of Seattle progressive-music icon Jimi Hendrix.
Conceived as a destination event rather than just another gig, Seaprog invites listeners to spend a weekend enjoying stimulating and intelligent music and visiting the many fine restaurants, bars, and shops in Columbia City.
