La Santa Cecilia exemplifies the modern-day creative hybrid of Latin culture, rock and world music. The group draws inspiration from all over the world, utilizing Pan-American rhythms including cumbia, bossa-nova, rhumba, bolero, tango, jazz and klezmer music.

La Santa Cecilia perform music rooted in social justice, equity and immigration reform. In this pre-show talk, the band will discuss its bicultural music, and why bridging the gap between the United States and Mexico is so important, particularly given the current political climate. The group will also describe the process surrounding La Santa Cecilia’s newest album, Amar y Vivir, which was recorded live over five days in the streets, bars and parks of Mexico City.
