Dearheart (final show of their summer tour!)
There are few bands that can tear at the emotional fabric of one’s being the way Dearheart can. From songs that engage the genre-standards of relational breakups and lost love to songs that plumb the depths of anxiety, loneliness, and depression, Steve Denler lays bear before the listener the inner process and experienced emotions in an intimate, inviting way that draws the listener into the process along with him. You can’t help but be thrown into the heartache or anxiety-ridden anger that is expressed so openly within the songs, something done not only with the hard-hitting soundscape produced by the fusion of an extremely talented group of musicians but also by the extreme depth found within the lyrics.
Travis Hayes isn’t the type to wear emotions on his sleeve. He saves that for his songs- brutally honest most of the time, and endearingly heartfelt all the time. Hayes continues the timeless tradition of soul-bearing songwriting to interpret our shared human experience into music. Love, heartbreak, fading friendships, fraught relationships – they’re all expressed achingly through his impassioned voice and melodic guitar lines. Hayes echoes the earnestness of Springsteen, the pop sensibility of Petty, and the raw emotion of Ryan Adams. Simply put by Music Junkie Press, “If you are from the Bay Area and haven’t been to a Travis Hayes show, then you are missing out.”
The narrative storytelling in folk singer-songwriter Bryan Jones’ music brings to life an eclectic cast of characters only an inspired mind could conjure up. But Jones’ talent doesn’t end with the pen—his strong, bare vocal abilities are one to be reckoned with. And much like the early country legends, Jones’ would spill his blood if it gave life to a song.
