The Fifty-Year Rebellion (1967 to 2017): The Detroit Rebellion and Global Resistance Movements
How can communities move from resistance to social transformation? Join Scott Kurashige (The Fifty-Year Rebellion) and Michael Hardt (Assembly) as they analyze the 1960s rebellions and political challenges of the present to draw lessons from the past half-century of movement building. The conversation will also include new social justice challenges emerging in Seattle while also imagining possibilities that might confront us beyond 2017. Our pre-funk event takes place on the 4th Avenue Plaza with an open mic by Ringside Poetry, 5-6:30pm. This program is made possible with support from the Seattle Public Library Foundation.
