Closing the Hunger Gap: From Charity to Solidarity – hosted by Northwest Harvest
The goal of the 2017 CTHG conference is to move hunger relief organizations toward strategies that promote social justice and address the root causes of hunger, using the lens of racial and economic equity.
From September 11 through 13, 2017, hundreds of people from around the country working to eliminate hunger and poverty within their communities will gather at the Greater Tacoma Convention & Trade Center in Tacoma, WA, just south of Seattle, to learn from one other another and strategize next steps in the continuing movement to end hunger.
We will be featuring leading speakers, such as Malik Yakini and Beatriz Beckford during our two-day conference focused on dismantling racial and economic disparities in our food system. On Monday, September 11th, our pre-conference will feature several hands-on tours visiting innovative programs, meeting program participants, and enjoying delicious food from right here in Washington.
CTHG is a network of food banks, anti-hunger advocates, and food justice activists from across North America working to strengthen community food systems. The network formed in 2012 and is guided by a Leadership Team composed of representatives from food banks and partner organizations across the US.
