I'm the One: The Music of Annette Peacock
Annette Peacock has slipped under the radar throughout her near 50 year career as a composer, vocalist, keyboardist and pioneer of vocal processing with analogue synths. Her music embodies a rich combination of 70's psychedelia, R&B, funk, free-form spoken word songs and avant garde jazz. Having worked extensively with the likes of Paul Bley, Gary Peacock, Bill Bruford, Albert Ayler, Robert Moog, Paul Motion and many more, it comes as a surprise that Peacock's music remains an obscure goldmine for avid jazz aficionados.
Tonight, vocalist Nora Jane Messerich and guitarist Tristan Gianola come to Seattle from New Orleans and join forces with an all-star Seattle band to pay homage to Annette Peacock's composition, focusing specifically on music from her debut album «I'm the One». Joining them are Wayne Horvitz (synths), Willow Goodine (keys), Geoff Harper (bass) and Eric Eagle (drums).
Opening the night is a solo set from renowned composer Robin Holcomb.
