Join us as we occupy JPMorgan Chase and create an art installation inside the branch, using the names of 150,000 people who have signed a petition calling on Chase to stop financing tar sands pipelines.
As Seattle skies are filled with wildfire smoke for weeks at a time, Kinder Morgan states that it is on schedule to begin construction of the Trans Mountain Pipeline in September, a project that would result in seven times as many oil tankers in the Salish Sea and almost certainly result in the extinction of the Southern Resident Orcas.
Pipelines like Kinder Morgan are being planned over the objection of the 150 First Nations and Tribes in the Treaty Alliance Against Tar Sands Expansion and the 150,000 people who signed a petition demanding that Chase, Wells Fargo and Bank of America stop funding new tar sands projects.
The big banks know these pipelines are a risky bet financially, are bound to spill, and would put them squarely on the wrong side of history on climate change. BUT… they’re not going to walk away until they hear from us!
On Friday August 18th, join 350 Seattle, Greenpeace USA and Mazaska Talks as we occupy JPMorgan Chase and create an art installation inside the branch, using the names of 150,000 people who have signed a petition calling on Chase to stop financing tar sands pipelines.
Meet up and final preparation, 1130.
See ya there.
