This four week class is designed for musicians who are comfortable on their instrument and have an interest in performing, improvising, writing original songs, and who want to understand more complicated compositions and techniques.
Studying music theory improves songwriting, increases the ability to express yourself in new and creative ways, makes learning new songs more efficient and less frustrating, and the list goes on! This class is specifically sensitive to players who are interested in integrating music theory into their playing without sacrificing their unique voice and style.
Teacher — and self-proclaimed theory geek — Jared Cortese studied Jazz Guitar at Columbia College in Chicago and has been teaching guitar, songwriting, and theory at The Guitar Store for the last seven years. Jared has also performed regularly in Seattle and across the country for the last decade with his indie rock bands.
