Did you know that those moldy leftovers in the back of your fridge could be turned into renewable energy? Nothing is going bad at this month's Nerd Nite! Our special guest is Srirup Kumar from Impact Bioenergy, a company that develops products and solutions that reduce the environmental impact of food waste.
Srirup Kumar: Just Digest It!
Impact Bioenergy is proving out a highly repeatable model for hyperlocal food “waste” conversion to renewable resources at a community scale (up to 5,000 tons per year, per site), that stimulates climate action and a circular economy, while promoting food and energy independence. This is achieved by deploying a network of modular systems that “biocycle” organic residuals into: (1) renewable natural gas (RNG), (2) heat, (3) power, (4) renewable, food-grade carbon dioxide, and (5) organic plant food (which sequesters carbon, enables conservation ag and remediation, and drives economic growth).
Srirup Kumar is a business development and innovation leader for Impact Bioenergy Inc. responsible for their successful
commercialization of the HORSE AD 25 series. He specializes in social and environmental stewardship as well as integrated
bottom line management systems. This includes local food cycling and community-based systems in Seattle, the Puget
Sound region and beyond. His focus has been to develop, deploy, service and lease advanced distributed bioenergy systems
designed around communities, in collaboration with commercial and residential stakeholders.
