DNB Tuesdays presents:
Roxanne was born in NY but raised in Miami, FL where her musical journey began at the Dillard School of Performing Arts where she gained a background in musical theory. Passionate about a variety of genres, she took up the guitar and over the years played with a myriad of local bands.
The transition from musician to DJ started within the pounding walls of Miami’s hottest nightclubs where Roxanne tended bar and was introduced to electronic music. The scene ignited a new passion in her and it wasn’t long before Roxanne was digging into record crates. As she delved deeper into the sounds of electronic music it was Drum & Bass that really pulled Roxanne right in, and over the next few years she honed her skills as a DJ.
«I was fascinated by the way a DJ could control a crowd and how much energy would be in the room».
Drum and Bass being a male dominated scene back in the late 90’s, Roxanne really held her own and in the summer of 1999, Roxanne relocated to Los Angeles where she really came into her own. Booking gigs at some of the biggest clubs in the city and being a favorite at Hollywood’s weekly drum and bass clubs including the longest running and most successful Drum & Bass night in Los Angeles “Respect”.
Bookings were coming in thick and fast and Roxanne’s harder, darker and more aggressive sound was putting her on the map as one of the scenes best DJ’s. She has been tearing up parties across the nation and her reputation has kept her booking shows for over 15 years.
Roxanne has also had several releases including «Hypnosis» which was released on DJ Hive’s label, Vortex Recordings, and has remixed E-Sassin’s track entitled «Fragment» on Thermal Recordings. Evolving with the ever-changing music landscape in the US, Roxanne has been widening her music selection, spinning everything from Hip Hop to Techno, Tech House, UK Bass, and Breaks. She has huge events like the Ultra Music Festival and various gigs over the years in Miami for the Winter Music Conference under her belt and has played shows for Insomniac and Hospital Records. Currently, Roxanne holds her monthly residency, Broke As F**K at The Blue Monkey in Hollywood.
