Join us for a Day of Remembrance panel hosted by the ASC, MESC and JSA of University of Washington. Come enjoy performances by the UW Taiko Kai and UW Dabke, and engage in a discussion panel about the Japanese American incarceration during WWII. Regardless of your historical knowledge of this day, this will be a great opportunity for you to not only learn more about the JA incarceration but also start thinking about how we can fight injustice today. Light refreshments will be provided.
What is Day of Remembrance?
On February 19th 1942, Executive Order 9066 was signed, which required internment of all Americans of Japanese ancestry. Today, many organizations and groups across the United States hold events to commemorate the Japanese American internment around this date.
